Windows updates are critical to keeping your computer running smoothly and safely. However, we heard users notice that the Windows 7 update seems to have stopped installing on their PC.
Microsoft will support Windows 7 until April 2020, so there is no problem with the operating system being archived. Windows 7 users report to our help desk team when they try to check for new updates using the regular Windows update process, which can take hours or just get stuck.

Fixes an issue with Windows 7 updates
Step 1 – Create a restore point
Before you begin, it’s worth creating a system restore point just in case something goes wrong.
Step 2 – Disable Updates
Paradoxically, you need to disable the Windows Update service first. Click the Start button, then right-click Computer from the list of options, and then select Manage.
In the left pane, click the small arrow to expand the Service and Application option, and then click the Service option. On the right side of the pane, scroll to find the settings for Windows Update. Right-click Windows Update, and then select Stop.
Step 3 – Delete the contents of the DataStore folder
The next step may seem a bit technical, but don’t delay it because it won’t do any damage. Navigate to the C:\Windows > SoftwareDistribution > DataStore, and then select the contents of this folder.
It should have a subfolder called Logs and a file called DataStore.edbto delete both items.
Step 4 – Restart and re-enable updates
Restart the computer, and then then perform the procedure in Step 2 again after fully starting – this time choose to start Windows Update.
Upgrade of windows 7
In 2020, even if Microsoft stops supporting Windows 7, it will still be able to operate as usual, but there will be a lot of system problems or viruses, just like windows xp before. If you want to continue to use it then then then then the problem, or some people want to upgrade it, I suggest directly upgrade to windows 10.
